Kinograph Golf

Privacy Policy

Last updated October 28, 2026

This policy covers Kinograph Golf, the iPhone and iPad app made by Loman Group, LLC.

Kinograph does not collect your data. There is no account to create and no server to send anything to. Kinograph works on what you film entirely on your iPhone, and none of it, or anything learned from it, is sent to us or to anyone else.

The rest of this page explains what the apps do with the permissions they ask for, and what they keep on your iPhone.

The permissions Kinograph asks for

Camera. Kinograph Golf records your session and keeps your swings. Everything else is held in memory for a few seconds and then discarded without being saved. The camera also scans the code that pairs a coach’s device with yours; the code stays on the device that scans it.

Microphone. Kinograph listens for the sound of the ball being struck, which is how it knows when to keep something, and records sound with the clips it keeps. The sound is analyzed on your iPhone and never sent anywhere. Recording needs the microphone, because the sound is how swings are found.

The microphone also records voice notes you add to a swing, when you choose to, and never while a session is being filmed.

Speech recognition. A voice note is written out as text on your device, by Apple’s on-device speech recognition. The recording and its text are not sent to us or to Apple; the first time, Apple may download the speech model for your language.

Local network. Used only to pair with a coach’s device and send your swings to it, directly between the two devices (see “Coaching” below).

Photos. To import a video you’ve already filmed, you pick it in the system’s photo picker, which hands Kinograph only that video; nothing else in your library is shared. When you save a finished video, Kinograph asks to add it to your library. Kinograph asks to read and change your library only if you choose to replace a video with its trimmed version, and then only to replace that one video. Photos keeps the original underneath, so you can revert to it in the Photos app.

What Kinograph keeps on your iPhone

  • Your sessions: their clips, what the app worked out about each one, such as where the swing is, and your own choices, drawings, notes, and voice notes
  • A log of each session’s recording, which you can see in the Files app
  • Your settings

Sessions are kept out of your iCloud backup, because a session of video can be very large, and the videos you choose to keep are in Photos or wherever you saved or shared them. Deleting the app deletes everything it kept.

Coaching

You can pair your iPhone with a coach’s iPhone or iPad. Pairing starts with a code shown on your phone and scanned by the coach’s device, and the two then talk directly, encrypted, over the local network or a direct Wi-Fi link between them; nothing goes through us. Before pairing you type your name, which is sent to the coach’s device with a random identifier made for you, so your coach can keep your sessions together. The identifier is kept in your iCloud Keychain, so your own devices share it; it isn’t connected to your Apple Account, your phone number, or anything else about you.

While paired, the swings you keep, with what the app found and your choices, are sent to the coach’s device, and the coach’s notes, drawings, and voice notes come back to yours. The coach’s device keeps your sessions, under your name, on that device only. Forget the pairing on either device to stop it.

You can also send a session to a coach as a Kinograph file, by Messages, Mail, AirDrop, or any other way you choose; it goes where you send it.

iCloud, accounts and purchases

Kinograph Golf has no accounts. If you share a session with a coach through iCloud, it’s kept in your iCloud, and in your coach’s for the copy shared with them, using Apple’s iCloud sharing; it doesn’t pass through us, and you can stop sharing at any time.

It offers Kinograph Golf Pro, as a subscription or a one-time purchase, and codes that give Pro for a time. Buying, renewing, cancelling and redeeming a code all happen with Apple, through the App Store. We never see your payment details, your name or your Apple Account: the app only asks Apple, on your iPhone, whether a Pro purchase is active, and unlocks Pro if it is.

Analytics

Kinograph contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code. If you’ve chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone’s settings, Apple may pass along anonymous crash reports; Kinograph adds nothing to them.

Children

Kinograph collects nothing from anyone, children included.
