Downloads fills up. The desktop fills up. Somewhere there’s a folder of documents you meant to sort, and a NAS or a Documents folder that was supposed to be the place for them. Filing is easy to put off because every file needs a decision, and the decisions are the same ones you’ve made a hundred times before.
Linnaeus makes those decisions the way you already have. It looks at where your filed documents live, and when a new one arrives, the documents most like it vote on where it goes. A bank statement goes where last month’s went. When it isn’t sure, it asks.
What it does
- Tidies your Mac. Once a week, files you haven’t touched in a while leave Downloads, Desktop and Documents for your library. Each is copied, checked byte for byte, and only then put in the Trash. Installers and code that’s safely pushed simply go. The first tidy-up shows you everything it would move before anything does.
- Files what arrives. A review window lists what came in, where each file would go, and how sure Linnaeus is. Tick it, point it somewhere else, leave it where it is, or put it in the trash. Once you trust it, let it file what it’s sure of on its own. Every filing can be undone.
- Locks credentials away. Keys, password files and screenshots that show a code go into one encrypted disk image in your library, opened with Touch ID. Screenshots are read on your Mac to tell.
- Says where things went. Type part of a name in the menu, and see where the file is now and how it got there.
- Works with Claude. Claude Desktop or Claude Code, on the plan you already have, can catalog, file and weed your library with you. Nothing moves until you’ve seen the plan and said yes.
Your library is a folder on your Mac or a share on your own NAS, and your files only ever travel between your Mac and it. There’s no account and no tracking, and the license is checked on your Mac. One purchase covers all your Macs, after a 30-day trial.
